Ninety percent or more houses collapsed, causing two thousand and sixty-four people killed, one hundred seventy-five missing and thousand injured. Yushu in QinghaiProvince is located in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with an average altitude of four kilometers or more, the cold weather made the rescue work much more challenging and difficult.
